First Mesoamerican Observatory for Freight Transport and Logistics Workshop
The theme of the workshop was "Data on freight transport and logistics: information collection mechanisms, systematization, and impact on public policy."
Organized by the Transport Division of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), the IDB Regional Observatory for Freight Transport and Logistics, the Mesoamerican Observatory for Freight Transport and Logistics, and the Institute for the Integration of Latin America and the Caribbean, the workshop took place at the Double Tree Hilton Hotel, in Panama City, on December 4 and 5, 2012.
With guidance from the staff of the IDB Regional Public Goods Program, the purpose of the meeting was to carry out team building activities.
During the meeting the following topics were addressed:
- Progress in launching the Observatory
- Work plan
- Conformation of the Observatory network and mechanisms for its management
- Experiences of the Regional Public Goods Program
- Coordination on other initiatives in freight transport and logistics in the region
The inauguration of the workshop was led by Elayne White, executive director of the Mesoamerica Project, and Ronald Flores, Costa Rica Planning Director.
The workshop was followed by the first seminar of the IDB observatory network for freight transport and logistics.
