The Freight Transport and Logistics Regional Observatory defines methodologies to analyze and monitor topics relevant to the logistics agenda of Latin America and the Caribbean. The methodologies adapt international models to the context of countries in the region. Their objective is to serve as tools to create public policies.
The application of these common methodologies throughout the observatory network has multiple advantages: they permit a more precise adjustment of their design to local issues, encourage comparisons between countries and facilitate monitoring activities over time.
Currently, the Regional Observatory is working on the creation of a logistics expenditures index; a logistics chain performance indicator system; a model to measure the impact of congestion on urban logistics, and a model to calculate freight transport emissions. In all instances, the design includes the development of practical guides to apply the methodology in question, with a focus on the unique challenges of public actors.
